•  When to Travel

To visit Patagonia and the Southern Andes summer is the best time because of the balmy temperatures and long day’s .Wintertime is suggested for traveling to the North and Northwest as rains do not prevail and tropical temperatures drop a few degrees. Autumn and spring are fantastic in Buenos Aires, Cuyo and the pre-mountain range areas of La Rioja and Catamarca.

•  Getting to Argentina

All the airlines land in Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza) International Airport in Argentina, which is 35 Km away from the City of Buenos Aires. You can avail the Teniente General Ricchieri freeway (Information: Tel. 4480-9538). Company Manuel Tienda León (Av. Santa Fe 790, Tel. 4314-3636) and Transfer Express (Florida 1045, Tel. 4312-8883) offer a bus service from their offices in Buenos Aires to Ezeiza airport from 5.00 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. These services cost $14 and $11 (ARGENTINA Pesos) respectively, and the trip takes approximately 40 minutes. There are also taxis and chauffeur-driven rented cars at a price between $35 and $38. But you have to pay a US$ 30.50 tax before leaving the country.

•  Documents and formalities

You should have a legal passport with or without visa reckoning on your nationality. For that it is better to ask at the nearest Embassy or Consulate. Travelers coming from countries not neighboring Argentina are excused from all taxes on traveling articles and new articles up to US$ 300 and an additional US$ 300, if purchased at duty free shops within the national territory.

No vaccination certificate is required to enter the country, except for passengers coming from countries where cholera and yellow fever are endemic.

•  Getting around Argentina

There are various means by which you can hop around the city and enjoy your vacation in Argentina. They are:

•  Car

•  Shopping in Argentina

There are a number of places where you can shop in Argentina. But while leaving the country you have to complete some formality.

•  VAT return

At the airport you may get a VAT compensation equating to any buys made within the country for an amount over $70 (per invoice) and in shops functioning with the “Global Refund” scheme.

•  Payment methods

Foreign currencies can be converted in banks and empowered agencies though US Dollars are generally accepted everywhere. American Express, VISA, Diners and Master Card are widely taken. There may be troubles in converting traveler’s check outside Buenos Aires.

•  Calling to Argentina

Pay phones work with cards that may be bought in kiosks and telephone companies’ offices, or with legal tender coins. There are also stores with pay phones (open 24 hours a day) where you can pay in cash.

•  Overseas, dial the country code (54) and then the area code of the location

•  Domestic calls, dial 0 before the area code.

•  International calls, dial 00, the country code and city code
