Nuremberg or Nurnberg is a city located at Bavaria, which is a German state. As of January 2008, this has a population of 502,984. Most of the time, when one thinks about Nuremberg, he will immediately picture toys, gingerbread, the Nuremberg trials or the Reich Party Rally Grounds. However, this old town has more to present than that. There are Gothic churches, magnificent houses of patricians as well as spots and corners that are perfect for lovers. When you travel in Nurnberg, you will find several places that you can visit. You can consult your travel guide to know more about the city or you can simply explore all around the area.

If you will travel in Nurnberg specifically in the Old Town area, you will find various attractions here. Know first that this is divided by Pegnitz River. The upper part is known as the Sebalder Alstadt while the southern section is Lorenzer Altstadt. So what should you visit here? The first one is the Castle, which is open everyday usually from nine in the morning to six in the evening except on October to March. They usually open during these times at ten in the morning up to four in the afternoon. This grand castle dominates the Old Town, which was built in the year 1495. There is a guided tour here but it is only in German. There are other companies however that offer a tour spoken in English.

In the suburbs, you will find one of the most wonderful churches, which is the Kraftshof Village Church. This has an interesting history that started from the fact that only those who live in towns were permitted to build walls. Therefore, those places that did not belong in towns, they were not protected from troops that were planning to raid them. During those times, the people decided that they would build the walls in the yard of this church. You will now see the results of their labor when you visit this place.

If you are fond of museums, you will find great number of such in this city including Germanisches National Museum and the Transportation Museum. In the latter, you will find two collections here namely the Museum of the National railway and the Communication Museum. There are also other museums like the Toy Museum, the House of Albrecht Durer and the Museum of Industrial Culture.

The Nuremberg hotspots are not the only ones that make the tourists visit the city. There are also events like the Volksfest and the Old Town Festival, which is known as the Altstadtfest. This is held every September and draws great attention from the locals as well as the foreigners. Also one of the interesting celebrations is the Lange Nacht det Wissenchaften or the Long Night of Science. This is an event that occurs every October when many companies including the Institute of Technology open their gates for the public.

One will definitely enjoy his or her travel in Nurnberg with all the diverse places that are being presented to the individual.
